Act 6 — Master the stage · Week 47 of 52

Hosting

Can you control a room without being the funniest person in it?

Make other people funnier for one night.

The five moves

Same rhythm, every week.

  1. 1Study

Great hosts. Watch how they set up other comics.

Watch on purpose. Specific comedians, specific reason.

  2. 2Deconstruct

Count how much time a good host takes versus gives.

Isolate one mechanism. Name it before you use it.

  3. 3Write

A hosting plan: opener, energy resets, intros, transitions.

10–25 premises minimum. Quantity buys quality.

  4. 4Perform

Host something. Anything. A show, a meeting, a birthday.

Somewhere live. The classroom is useful; the audience is the laboratory.

  5. 5Review

Did the acts after you do better than they would have?

Watch the tape. Log what the room did, not what you felt.

The Comedy Genome

Tag what made you laugh.

Tag every joke you studied this week. After a few months the pattern stops being an opinion and becomes your comedy DNA.

Your twin asks

Eleven questions, every week.
