Act 5 — Storytelling · Week 33 of 52

Comedy story architecture

Situation, escalation, disaster, revelation — where does yours break?

Find five stories in your life that already have a disaster in them.

The five moves

Same rhythm, every week.

  1. 1Study

    Three long-form storytellers.

Watch on purpose. Specific comedians, specific reason.

  2. 2Deconstruct

Map three stories against the four-beat structure.

Isolate one mechanism. Name it before you use it.

  3. 3Write

Outline five of your own stories in four beats each.

10–25 premises minimum. Quantity buys quality.

  4. 4Perform

    Tell the strongest one.

Somewhere live. The classroom is useful; the audience is the laboratory.

  5. 5Review

Which beat was missing? Usually revelation.

Watch the tape. Log what the room did, not what you felt.

The Comedy Genome

Tag what made you laugh.

Tag every joke you studied this week. After a few months the pattern stops being an opinion and becomes your comedy DNA.

Your twin asks

Eleven questions, every week.
